How is 2D Animation Different From 3D Animation?

Animation principles are the same for both 2D and 3D Animation but in 2D animation characters and objects used only consist of 2 dimensions i.e. height and width, whereas 3D animation comprises 3 dimensions, height width, and depth and 3D animation looks more realistic than 2D animation.
